Albient is run from Wessex, in the United Kingdom, and these terms are governed by the law of England and Wales.
Who can have an account
Accounts are invitation only while the platform is young. You need to be old enough to enter into a contract where you live, and you need to give us a working address to write to.
What we undertake
We will run the services described on this site, keep the machines in London with a nightly copy in Falkenstein, publish our configuration on Hord, and tell you on Watch when something is broken.
We will not read your mail, your files or your messages except where you have asked us to help with a specific problem and have said so. We will not sell or share anything about you.
There is no charge at present. If that changes, the price will be published here before anybody is asked to pay it, and nobody will be moved onto a paid plan without agreeing to it first.
What we ask of you
Do not use Albient to break the law, to send unsolicited bulk mail, to attack other people or their machines, or to store material that is illegal in the United Kingdom. Do not use so much of a shared machine that other people cannot use it.
Keep your own account safe. Ward will show you every live session and let you end any of them.
Leaving
You can export your data and close your account yourself, at any time, without asking us. Nothing is held back and there is no retention period you have to sit out.
We can suspend or close an account that breaks the rules above. If we do, we will tell you why, and unless the law prevents it we will give you a reasonable chance to take your data with you.
No warranty beyond this
We run this carefully, but it is a small platform and things will sometimes break. We do not promise that the services will never be unavailable or that no data will ever be lost, which is why you should keep your own backups of anything you cannot bear to lose. Nothing here limits any liability that cannot lawfully be limited.
Changes
If these terms change we will publish the new version here first, and the change will be visible in the history of this site’s repository on Hord.
